Step By Step
No shortcuts, no skipped steps. Here's the real process, start to finish, so you know what to expect before we ever show up.
The Full Sequence
Free on-site walkthrough — we look at the slab, discuss your goals, and answer questions directly.
Mechanical diamond grinding to the correct concrete surface profile (CSP) — not an acid etch.
Especially for basements and older slabs — hidden moisture can ruin a coating from underneath.
Flexible crack filler and pitting repair before anything gets coated over.
The structural layer that everything else bonds to.
Decorative layer applied — full flake, partial flake, or solid color, per your choice.
The wear layer — epoxy or polyaspartic clear coat, sealing and protecting everything underneath.
We walk the finished floor with you and explain the specific cure timeline for your system.
Timeline
Exact timing depends on your system (epoxy vs. polyaspartic) and floor condition, but here's the general shape of it.
Surface prep: grinding, moisture testing, and any crack or pit repair. This is the step that determines whether the coating lasts.
Base coat and decorative flake or color broadcast go down. Polyaspartic systems often move faster here than epoxy.
Top coat application and cure. Polyaspartic is typically walkable same-day and vehicle-ready within 24-72 hours; epoxy generally needs a longer cure window before full vehicle weight.
Choosing a System
| Epoxy | Polyaspartic / Polyurea | |
|---|---|---|
| Cure time | Longer, often 3-5 days to full use | Fast, often walkable same day |
| UV stability | Can yellow with direct sun exposure | More UV-stable long-term |
| Hot tire pickup | More prone to marking | Better resistance |
| Application temperature | Typically needs 50°F+ | Wider working range, better for shoulder-season installs |
| Flexibility | More rigid | Better at bridging minor slab movement |
